About the project
A UK charity offers free Islamic wills through it. People answer a guided questionnaire, the system works out each heir’s share under Islamic inheritance, and the will is produced ready for review.

The challenge
Islamic inheritance gives fixed shares to set relatives, and the shares change with who survives. Every will also has to pass a scholar’s review and a paralegal’s review before it can be issued.
Key features
Guided questionnaire
About eleven sections that only show what applies to the person writing the will.
Inheritance calculator
Hanafi shares, checked against 128 published cases and around 260,000 combinations.
Two reviews
A scholar reviews each will, then a paralegal, before it’s issued.
The will itself
A password-protected PDF with schedules of heirs and assets, produced automatically.
Easy sign-in
An emailed code, or the charity’s existing donor account.
After it’s issued
Questions from reviewers, amendments, a yearly reminder to review it, and a full history of changes.
